 Alison Strasser Winston, Ph.D.

Dr. Strasser Winston is a licensed psychologist in New Jersey and New York. She obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in children and adolescents from Fordham University in 1999, and received a Master’s Degree in Developmental Psychology from Teachers College Columbia University in 1991. Dr. Strasser Winston specializes in forensic and clinical evaluations of children, adolescents, and adults. She has been providing evaluations in several areas, including mental health assessments, risk assessments (child abuse and neglect, domestic violence, substance abuse), parental capacity/fitness evaluations, and termination of parental rights evaluations, since 1995. Dr. Strasser Winston frequently testifies as an expert witness in New Jersey Superior Court and is a consultant to the Division of Child Protection and Permanency, the Office of the Law Guardian, the Office of Parental Representation, Guardians ad Litem, and private attorneys.

Prior to starting Winston Psychological Services, Dr. Strasser Winston completed her APA-accredited internship in the Child and Adolescent Outpatient Unit at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, New Jersey, where she received training in the child and adolescent outpatient unit, conducted psychological and neuropsychological testing, the child abuse unit, the children’s and adolescents’ partial hospitalization program, and mobile crisis intervention units. Dr. Strasser Winston worked at the Metropolitan Regional Diagnostic and Treatment Center (RDTC) at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center for 18 years, where she conducted psychological evaluations and psychotherapy with children who had experienced physical and sexual abuse and neglect; testified as an expert witness in criminal matters; supervised other clinicians at the agency; and coordinated the RDTC’s graduate psychology externship program.
